Do Cosmetic repairs last?

Cosmetic repairs will last, but not as long as a wheel that has had a full refurbishment of the whole wheel.

The reason for this is simple. When a wheel is fully refurbished then the whole wheel is sealed – totally painted then totally lacquered – a completely sealed unit so to speak. With a cosmetic repair the seal has been broken from the damage to the wheel, however well the repair is performed there has still been a break in that original finish on the wheel.
